We have the option of going to the rodeo in Cody in the evening.    
     

Friday, July 4

After watching the July 4th parade in Cody in the morning, we will head to Laurel, MT. The mileage is not great and the scenery is superb. Taking time for the parade may cause us to travel a little faster heading north than on the return trip heading south. We should have a lot of time to enjoy the scenery with lots of photo opportunities along the way both directions.

Hwy 296 northwest (Chief Joseph Scenic By-Way) to Hwy 212 44 mi.   
Hwy 212 northeast to Red Lodge, MT (stop and look around Red Lodge) 51 mi.   
Hwy 212 northeast to Laurel, MT (spend the night in Laurel) 44 mi.   
Laurel's claim to fame is that they have the biggest and best Fireworks display in all the Big Sky State of Montana. We intend to check that out and give our individual opinions.
