2nd Annual RMVTA Memorial Ride

We will travel north on I-25 to Cheyenne, WY and have breakfast and our first gas stop. We will continue north on I-25 to the exit for US 85 heading towards Torrington, WY. At Torrington we continue US 85 to Lingle, WY and then north through Lusk, WY. Once in South Dakota we will turn north on US Highway 14 (Spearfish Canyon) and continue to Spearfish, SD.

We should get there in the mid afternoon and relax for a while and then decide what we might all like to do for the evening. Deadwood is not far away and I have always wanted to see Mount Rushmore at night as a couple possibilities. Then Sunday we can tour some of the wonderful roads in the Black Hills area and or go to Mount Rushmore or Crazy Horse. We might even ride the Pigtails a time or two.

We will want to be back to Spearfish in time to get cleaned up and have some dinner so that we can catch a bus to the Black Hills Passion Play. The bus should cost about $3.00 each if my early information is correct and will leave at around 6:50 or so.

We can get tickets for $18.00 each and perhaps less if we get enough interest in this ride to get a group discount. More on ticket prices in the future. Out-of-state checks are not accepted at the Ticket Window.

I have not firmed up Motel arrangements as of this issue but will get more information in the near future.

We will be returning Monday morning at a time mutually agreed upon following the same or similar route home.

Total trip distance is 738 miles.

Addendum...Motel Information:

I now have room reservations made for the 2nd Annual Memorial Ride for June 12, 2004 (Saturday night) and June 13, 2004 (Sunday night.) They are under my name (Floyd Thorne) so you can call and reserve them under your own name any time now. The rooms will be released on May 29, 2004 so don't miss out on your opportunity to go. It will be here before you know it.

The rates are $71.99 per room that is the same price for one to four adults. This is also discounted for the quantity group rates.

There are six non-smoking rooms and three smoking rooms reserved.

We will be going to the Passion Play Sunday night and there is a bus service "Dakota Bus Service" that can pick us up for $3.00 per head and take us to the play thus allowing us to leave our machines all bedded down for the night.

Look forward to seeing many of you along on this trip. Let's see that would be 4 people per room and a total number of ten rooms reserved, if my math is right that would be 40 folks out enjoying each others company and doing what we all enjoy doing. Does it get any better than this. Sounded like they may have more rooms available right now if we need to increase our numbers.
