Hanging Lake Picnic       Captain: Floyd & Linda Thorne Phone: (303) 452-6897       Date: July 29 Saturday       Meet: 7:45 AM @ 6th & Kipling (Sofa Mart parking lot) Ride leaves at 8:00 AM - Eat & fuel before meeting.   Depart west on US 6 to I-70 (4), west on I-70 via Idaho Springs (21), Dillon (35) to Vail (30). 90 mi   Continue west on I-70 via Eagle (29) to Hanging Lake Parking lot (18) 47 mi   Return via reverse route 137 mi   Total Day 274 mi   At Hanging Lake parking lot, there will be a hike up to Hanging Lake. This is a pretty good hike so bring appropriate footwear and a day pack for snacks and water. It will be done at your own pace. It is a vertical climb of something like 1500 feet in a mile and a half (actual stats unknown). We will have a picnic lunch when we get back to the parking lot and then depart for home when everyone is ready. ETA 5:30 - 6:00 PM
